bump, same here -_-''

That's new, now i need info, which queen, what's the Eta, is it gonna be like all the other trainer games you've made, hopefully not as grindy.
In all honesty i would much prefer a new trainer game from you over episodes of star channel. Trainer games were always more involved and rewarding. Especially Hermione trainer, god that one is still a masterpiece.

Kalyskah community · Created a new topic Optimization talk

Ok, to start things off, the game runs worse than the previous version.(like much worse, previous version i had the setting for the most part on normal, and few of them on low, this time everything was on low, and the framerate was even lower than on previous version in open world, in the crypt the framerate was completely fine the last time)

I don't want to seem offensive or anything, but i believe that raising the system requirements right now is the best choice. Cause with those requirements, you can't run this game in anything that's not gallery on above 10 fps. Until it's properly optimized, the requirements should be raised so that people's pc's don't get bricked, cause that is a legit concern.

also tutorial fight should explain the basics of swordfighting (i forgot those, so i experienced the full frustration of not knowing how to block, and count the 5-10fps along with it and you get an "experience"), i remembered them after i lost the tutorial fight.(yeah i know, a true IGN moment, but... try winning a it without knowledge of basics and at 5-10fps)

On a slightly positive note start of the game definitely seems better, the sir whatever his name was intro was horrible, but this one also just starts with swords clashing, you should give some kind of exposition about the world and characters first, otherwise it just feels way too sudden. Still, a big improvement nonetheless.

I'm gonna wait for next version and have hope that i will be able to playtest it then. Cause god knows i'm not trying this version again, this was the worst experience i've ever had when it comes to games. i could see improvements, but i had no opportunity to appreciate them cause of nonexistent framerate.

"alt+enter" should do the trick if you want fullscreen.

well, think of it as artistic courtesy, it's fine if character is similar, but umm... please understand how it would feel for that artist to see this.. well it's not cool. There were ways to improve it and make it yours, but you skipped that part, and worst of all you put the screenshot of pretty memorable character on the front page. For a game that is essentially the same genre as the "inspired" character is from. Well, i'm not angry or anything, like i said, it's just not cool, and my point was and still is that you seem to be fully capable on doing it better on your own. You're clearly not a beginner when it comes to art, take your time with the art, especially if you're making a game of your own, don't cut corners on a art when it's the primary "bait" of the game.

I wish that you learn, improve and make a banger game. God knows indie games are the only hope that game have left.

for one, despite you having a point, you're just rude. as for two, it's not photoshopped, he traced it, and honestly, is better than original artist when it comes to technical skill, which is super confusing to me, as to why he would do that. it just doesn't make any sense.
but it doesn't mean you can be rude to them. if you're on internet it doesn't mean you should behave like an animal, be respectful. or at least try to be.

(1 edit)

I disagree with rudeness of "Achore", but he does have a point.
I put them side by side, and I see that it's been clearly traced. There is nothing wrong with tracing imo, if you change the originally traced piece enough, which you haven't.

E: as someone who is new to art, i understand the value of tracing, but in your case... you don't need to trace. You're good already. But if you insist on tracing, then do it only for the initial sketch, and change the piece in the process, use it as a starting point instead of ending one. Well we all make mistakes, we just need to learn from them, hopefully you will learn from yours.

I'm just being objective, also i think i forgot to mention that some npc's fall trough the world (sink in the floor if you will) when you talk to them. but that might actually be tied to the same loading screen issue.

A little suggestion for a later stages i'd have is to maybe add a weapon specialization system, with unlockable moves and maybe even a questline or two for a full blown moveset change.  And maybe make the damage scaling on weapons a little clearer, like show how much damage we are getting from our stats next to the scaling type icons. For minmaxing purposes that would be really sweet.
And there certainly needs to be a parry system, like when you do a perfect block. That would increase the fun of the combat.

yeah it also took me 15 irl minutes to load in the overworld/open world part. And when it did load in i had about 5fps for  2-3 minutes, after that it went up to 20-ish, fps, had to drop the visual settings quite a bit to get a playable fps. Probably just needs some optimization. Some chest pieces also clip trough breasts, mainly the ones blacksmith sells, i cranked the booby slider all the way up.  Honestly, i really like how each piece has their own model, i really love seeing that in games, combat is moderately fun, needs some tweaking for the most part so it doesn't feel as "floaty", mainly the enemies.  Definitely gonna be looking at the future updates, this might be turning out into a really good rpg. Even without the smutty aspects.

now it solved itself. no idea what caused it.
maybe doing a full uninstall into reinstall did the trick, since last time i just did the reinstall

(1 edit)

when i try to launch it trough itch.io app, it shows up as "running" for a few seconds and returns the launch button to default state.
and when i try to launch it directly, from the folder, i get a
"TalesOfAndogyny.exe - Entry Point Not Found"
"The procedure entry point JVM_GetManagementExt could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Games\Itch\Itch Games\tales-of-androgyny\Tales of Androgyny Win 64\jre\bin\recource.dll" and "t2k.dll" of the same path.
I already tried re-installing, and it didn't work.
E: also updated JAVA, but it also didn't work. Maybe someone knows where the old savefiles and settings are located?

Did this got big rework? Cause i remember the apartement chapter with all the training, but now that's just not there and instead there is a lot of new scenes with Asami and when i got those done it just goes end scree with patreon/quit/replay buttons.. I mean the training chapter was not bad, didn't need to delete it.

Basically i just upgraded my windows from 7 to 10, and got the "timed out while connecting to buttler"

but the thing is after the upgrade everything works perfectly on the pc, except itch.

it's stuck at "finalizing installation" phase

I can't copy-paste the error code, so sorry if you are displeased by the screenshot.
E:pretty sure the upgrade is irrelevant here, since it has happened before but it always resolved itself somehow. Just thought that i'd mention that.

E(2): it fixed itself.... guess it's a perpetual problem with Itch.io desktop app....

I believe I don't have to explain what is the bug here, now do I? :P

yeah, i tried to restart the app and computer first thing. And the force quit just stops whatever the app was doing instead of launching the game.

*SPOILER WARNING*

in the essence trials, when you bump into a wall, you can get stuck, cause it'll throw you back, and if there happens to be a wall there, well you're out of luck cause said wall is become your prison and you'll be stuck in that wall or piece of rock.

Yesterday there was a pretty bad storm that hit the power out for a couple minutes.

I was playing one of the games on itch when that happened, now that game and only that game isn't launching from itch desktop app, i can still launch the game from the game folder, but if i try to launch it from itch, it just shows that the game is running, but nothing happens, and there is nothing in the task manager as well.

i hope there is a simple fix to this, since i have a pretty massive amount of games on itch, and i don't want to reinstall and lose them all.

Found another rather annoying bug,  happens when you talk to the npc when they are in front of the door. After conversing they no longer walk around...

so you get stuck.(there is no fast travel function or anything so... rip.)

Stumbled on this in the wichdale, in the cave on the right, when tried to mine, tried it the second time, and it worked just fine.

It froze the game completely, hope this helps ironing stuff out.

Since the name "Ralph" didn't seem familiar, i went and explored the tents... yeah he was in a tent that was previously empty(which is why i didn't bother checking it), you should make some pointers for backtracking like that. Since i thought it was Alfred guy who was the pivotal one(i mean he gives the entrance token to the club, seems kinda pivotal eh?) so most of my time i spent in market, noble, and sewers, districts.

Though it kinda sucks that now my MC is piss poor and with no hp consumables or antidotes left, but i guess that's a part of challenge for me now :D, I'm glad i can continue the game now. If i see any other issues, or bugs possibly, i'll let you know. Thanks for a quick response(honestly thought you'd respond in a month or so, since a lot of devs aren't that active in Itch.io when it comes to discussions and stuff)

Also a lil question, what stat check is that chest in there? Is it res? Making that guess based on MC talking about poison.
By the way, the VA narration was so good that it's kinda sad that it isn't present in the game more.

(1 edit)

So, for how far i've been able to get in the game, which is basically till the desert city whose name i immediately forgot, got to the inn, and did that, talked to every npc, i could find, did a couple puzzles, dug up one chest, and couldn't dig up the second one(guessing that one is for patrons even though it didn't say that), had the coin/mark that's required to enter that club, but in the noble district you can enter only 3 spots, house that you can explore only the f1, the basement for the sidequest, and the alleyway which leads to sewers.  That quest is stuck, i doubt i'm missing anything since  i spent literally 1.5 HOURS just wandering about the city and the sewers trying to progress, getting poisoned and with no hp and no consumables or gold to spend on them. The guy in sewers is a brick wall after i tried the "seduce" option. MC says he's gonna attack if we keep persisting, but that's what i want.(my guess choosing seduce bricks that sidequest) I'm not sure if this is as far as the game goes at it's current stage, or it's scripted too tightly that scripts break too easily...

I would love to progress in the game, but i see no way. At this point i don't see the point in playing this game because at this point the only things i'm able to get from the game are frustration and anger. At least leave some tips/notes for the quests/sidequests in the journal. It is very frustrating to roam trough every nook and cranny of the city, interact with literally every tile that looks remotely interactable, and still get no progress. I'm out of ideas. Not gonna pick up the game again till i get some ansvers, and honestly, i can't suggest this game to anyone at this point, it feels too raw, and i don't want anyone to go trough what i did. I'm mentally drained from this.

I really wasn't expecting much when i was downloading this, but oh boy did i get a pleasant surprise. It's amazing, writing is good, VA is pretty good as well, except the male ones. Sadly they can't even compare to the female VA's.
I will be waiting in anticipation for chapter 3
A little suggestion if you will, maybe later in the game have ability to morph into human or other creature, and something like treasure hunting side activities, something more... open. So far it feels a bit linear.. maybe adding dungeons, treasure hunting, raiding, maybe some minigames.
I understand that the game is very early in development, but i see a great deal of potentia in it, and i wish to see that potential fulfilled.
Still, amazing job. I'll be looking forward for future updates.

any chance that the itch.io download is gonna get solved? Incopatible third-party site thingy..

for some reason i can't download it in Itch.io launcher, maybe something can be done about that?

can't wait honestly

I just checked the Patreon page and whad'ya know, it's already at Version 0.7.1c

I would really appreciate if you'd update Itch version, since Itch has the automatic updates and this way I don't need to find out that I have played older version while newer version was out already.

I honestly would prefer this one over OFDP simply cause this one ain't stick figures and maybe, later on there will be character customization.

I don't have anything against stick figures, it's just you get tired of them and sometimes two or more enemy sticks just look like one cause their colors are really limited. I see this game as a next step in this formula.
